Do you ever feel stuck or confused in your dressage training? Are you unsure what to do to fix a problem? The Dressage Training Scale is an amazing tool that, if fully understood, can guide you in your dressage training journey.
Dressage training is incredibly difficult and challenging and can be quite confusing for both horse and rider. Sometimes we all feel like we are riding circle after circle and making no progress at all!
This course is designed to give clarity and direction to your dressage training. The Dressage Training Scale is THE FOUNDATION of correct dressage training and can be applied to all horses and used to troubleshoot problem areas!
The dressage tests are designed based on this training scale, top riders implement the training scale in their daily riding, and the judges give scores based on the principles of this scale. The Dressage Training Scale is THE KEY to the progressive conditioning and development of a dressage horse.
In this course we go into depth to understand the Training Scale and how to implement it into daily training. We examine each level of the scale and how they build upon each other.
Each section of the course includes “classroom” lectures explaining each level of the Dressage Training Scale and riding exercises. A few of the exercises taught in this course and how they fit into the training scale are as follows:
- Turn on the forehand (Suppleness)
- Serpentines (Suppleness)
- Transitions (Connection/Impulsion)
- Uberstriechen (Connection)
- Shoulder-in (Straightness/Collection)
- AND MORE!!!
The course also includes a Facebook group, worksheets, quizzes and a FUN and artistic FINAL EXAM!!!
By the end of this course you should have an in depth understanding of the Dressage Training Scale and how to use it to guide your training. You will also have a tool box FULL of exercises for each level of the training scale. This education will give you clarity and purpose to your training and will help you and your horse to make progress and understand the system of Dressage.
This is an amazing course and the more horses that I ride and train to the Grand Prix, the more I realize the importance of the Dressage Training Scale!
Your Instructor
As a dressage trainer, my goal is to make good training accessible to everyone who is interested in learning. I want to help YOU "learn, to love your ride!"
~ Amelia
Amelia is passionate about sharing her knowledge of riding, horses and dressage. She has trained numerous horses and riders from Training Levels to the Grand Prix. Dressage is hard and she loves the challenge of educating riders and horses. Amelia has a clear understanding of rider position, how to ride a horse and train the movements.
Unlike many top riders, Amelia was NOT a natural talent and fell off so many times in her early riding days that her instructor nearly told her parents she should quit riding! Perseverance, love of all horses, and determination, not innate talent, is what made Amelia into the rider and horsewoman that she is today. Amelia is incredibly grateful to all the teachers who have helped her on this journey especially Joh Hinnemann, Christine Traurig, Sue Martin, Larry Fleming and Julie Barringer-Richers and of course the thousands of horses she's ridden including Geronimo, Trump, and Harvey.
Amelia enjoys helping each individual student and horse find harmony, trust, and balance. "Nothing is more rewarding than watching one of my students glide harmoniously around the ring together with their horse! This makes my heart soar!" says Amelia.
Amelia hopes to one day represent the U.S.A. on the international circuit and loves training her three horses, Harvey, Kensington and Luigi in Los Angeles, CA. Amelia has her USDF Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, She is the winner of the prestigious USEF Carol Lavell Advanced Dressage Prize and a member of the USEF Dressage Development Program.

Dressage can be a difficult and discouraging sport. Sometimes it is really hard to make progress or feel like you are getting anywhere. I remember first learning dressage and following my instructors commands but feeling my horse so heavy and strong in my hands. My horse and I were confused and frustrated by the concept of contact and connection. Why did it feel like I was just kicking and pulling? After many thousands of hours in the saddle and training multiple horses and riders to Grand Prix, I have learned to understand the system and the beauty of Dressage Training.
The Dressage Training Scale is an incredible tool, that if fully understood, can be applied to ALL horses. It is a tool that guides not only the daily training of a Dressage horse, but can also be used to troubleshoot specific issues in the training.
This course goes over a TON of "Dressage Theory" but it also goes into practical exercises and applications. I'm really excited to share with you the content of this course because I KNOW it will help you to make progress and succeed with your Dressage training! Hope to see you in the course!
